DevOps insurance
What if health insurance were available for the critical cloud- and server-based infrastructure powering your business? What if you could get 24/7 DevOps support for reasonable monthly fees, knowing that an external team of experienced engineers is always available to handle an unexpected issue affecting your production? That’s what our DevOps insurance support is all about: get your confidence for €500+ per month!
WHAT WE OFFER
Fire brigade for your infra
Jump on an urgent incident in your server or cloud infrastructure and resolve it as soon as possible, without long talks and waits for access.
Affordable 24/7 availability
As with regular insurance, you get always-on support for a small monthly fee (starting at as little as €500).
When I need DevOps insurance
Relying on various server technologies while lacking in-depth expertise in operating them in production environments.
Abrupt AI adoption in configuring and deploying infrastructure and/or software delivery pipelines led to unexpected issues.
No in-house SRE and DevOps support engineers are available 24/7.
It’s too early to hire the first DevOps engineer, or a small team has a bus factor in operations.
Business-critical need to promptly mitigate unexpected infrastructure incidents that result in non-working or non-responsive applications.
Business decides to cut costs for maintaining cloud or server infrastructure when it already “just works”.
The only engineer who knows the infrastructure is away on vacation, sick, or about to leave.

Technical details
First, we will audit your production cloud/server environment to understand its design, major components and their interconnections. Based on this knowledge, whenever you face a critical infrastructure incident affecting your apps, DevOps insurance will come into play at any time. Our SRE and DevOps support engineers will:
Troubleshoot and fix critical issues: in your Linux- and cloud-based infrastructure at any time of day and any day of the year.
Cover the full server-side stack: operating systems, virtual machines, networking, managed services, containers and Kubernetes, databases, message brokers, web servers, CI/CD, etc.
Support any infrastructure providers you use for your apps. It can be a private cloud from AWS, GCP, Azure, OVH, DigitalOcean, or other providers; a private cloud; or bare-metal servers hosted on-prem or in data centres, such as Hetzner.
Deal with a wide variety of server and cloud technologies, based on our real-world engineering experience of maintaining the infrastructure of different sizes across different industries.
Ensure the complete recovery of the server services your business-critical apps depend on, until final acknowledgement on your end.
Access your infrastructure fast and directly or via established, security-compliant solutions such as VPNs, bastions, PAM systems, and access requests.
Process as many incidents as you need to ensure the best possible urgent support and uptime for your production apps. (Note that, similarly to car insurance, more incidents will lead to higher fees.)
What I get with DevOps insurance
Quick recovery for your production service operations when your team can’t handle the incident.
Better uptime for business-critical applications.
24/7 peace of mind without costly DevOps support.
Business value
Lower financial and reputational risks for the business thanks to the improved service availability. Cost-efficient DevOps support for handling urgent server- and cloud-related incidents.
How to get started?
Collaboration model:
- Subscription with monthly fees depending on:
- the insured infrastructure: its scale, complexity, and access methods;
- the number of incidents occurred (just like in car insurance!).
- Packages starting at 500 EUR per month.
FAQ
Our primary focus is on Linux-based and cloud environments, with the most common server software required to run applications written in various languages and frameworks. Typically, the infrastructure includes virtual machines/Docker containers/Kubernetes, managed services, databases, web and application servers, and other similar software.
The infrastructure can be deployed with any provider, such as public or private clouds (including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, popular European providers, OpenStack-based setups, etc.) and bare-metal servers hosted in data centres or on-prem.
You can also see a few examples of insured infrastructures in the last question about pricing.
It depends on what is critical for your business. The scope of infrastructure covered by DevOps Insurance is one of the major factors affecting the price of this service. We define it in advance based on your needs, and this is specified in our agreement. Later, it can be refined as your requirements evolve.
Our guaranteed reaction time to an incident after your notification is 10 minutes. While we can’t guarantee the time required to resolve any incident, our engineers will continue working on it until you confirm it’s resolved.
All our DevOps and SRE engineers handling incidents are middle+ and have prior on-call experience at our company. When the situation requires it, they escalate to our team leads, who have at least 7+ years of production experience in DevOps and SRE.
We support various ways to access your infrastructure, from direct SSH credentials (with any required additional security layer) to more strict solutions such as VPNs, bastions, PAM systems, and access requests.
If providing any access is not an option, our engineers can join a video conference with a shared screen and resolve the incident by instructing your employee on the required actions. We have had such an experience with some customers.
We agree on the preferred access method with you beforehand and test it, if needed, during the service onboarding process.
Unlike SRE as a Service, DevOps insurance means you will notify us of the critical issue you need to solve now. We support different methods for such notifications, including Slack messages, phone calls, and email.
Slack is the preferred way for ongoing communication while resolving an incident. Email is an alternative option. Our engineer can also join a video meeting during the incident if required.
There are a few major factors that define the DevOps Insurance monthly fee: the size and complexity of the insured infrastructure, the available access methods, and the number of incidents.
Here are two examples of the DevOps Insurance prices for typical projects we work with:
- The insured infrastructure includes 1 production Kubernetes cluster running in AWS, 20 services, MySQL, a caching system, a message queue, S3 storage, and Vault. The guaranteed handling of 1 incident will cost 500 EUR per month.
- The insured infrastructure includes 2 production Kubernetes clusters, Istio service mesh, 40 services, Keycloak, ELK stack, Sentry, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, S3 storage, and Vault. The guaranteed handling of 1 incident will cost 1000 EUR per month.
